The swearing-in ceremony at the Oath of Hippocrates of doctors with Honors Degree took place in the Asclepieion of Kos in scenic atmosphere in the presence of the authorities of the island and the Dodecanese, Rectors and Deans of the Medical Departments of the Hellenic University, Presidents of Medical Colleges and Medical Schools.
The President of the Global Doctors’ Hippocratic Institute and Regional Governor of Attica, George Patoulis congratulated 7 doctors with Honors Degree from various Medical universities, emphasizing that the main goal is to spread knowledge about the ancient roots of Medicine and the transmission of the values of Hippocratic Medicine to today’s and tomorrow’s doctors of the international community and Medical Associations around the world. “The swearing-in of the world’s best physicians in the Oath of Hippocrates is worth the least honor to the great father of Medicine, and to his teachings, which today enlighten the international medical community, on the perfection of medical knowledge and practice. We seek by taking steady steps that the Inauguration ceremony will take place here in the Asclepieion of Kos and expand the circle of Doctors with Honors Degree, who swear today in the oath of Hippocrates with the best doctors of the most reputable foreign universities.
In fact, Mr. Patoulis added that through his institutional roles, he intends to support the initiatives for the restart of the Olympics and Amphiktyons of Medical Thought and Knowledge and the establishment of Awards and swearing in of doctors from all over the world to Hippocrates emphasizing: “Similar initiatives contribute to the national perspective for the transformation of Greece into a Medical Center of Excellence and to the establishment of Hippocratic Medicine Day, in order to establish, as an official day of awareness and information for Hippocratic thought, schools and hospitals. Our goal is to create a Center for the Promotion and Utilization of the findings of the History of Greek Hippocratic Medicine in Attica, -a major project- that will utilize the scientific legacy of our ancestors. “Our Attica deserves to obtain a Health Metropolis of the world”
The event was co-organized by the International Hippocratic Foundation of Kos, the Municipality of Kos, the Global Doctors’ Hippocratic Institute, the Medical Association of Kos, the South Aegean Region and the Ephorate of Antiquities. The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Kos Theodosis Nikitaras, the Prefect of Kos – Nisyros Mr. Ioannis Kampanis, the representative of the Medical Schools of the Rector of the University of Crete Professor of Surgery Odysseas Zoras, the Vice President of the School of Medicine K. Fratzaki, the Head of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Dodecanese Dr. Maria Michailidou, the members of the Board of the International Hippocratic Foundation Nikolaos Manousis Vice President, Nikolaos Papantoniou Secretary and Filippos M. Kalloudis.
