Τhe unveiling of Hippocrates” statue took place, during the events for the Hippocrates memorial day entitled “Hippocrates, the eternal return”, which is a copy of the statue that is in the Archaeological Museum of Kos.

This statue which was donated by the Global Doctors’ Hippocratic Institute, was placed in front of the Hippocrates amphitheatre of the medical school of Thessaly in the city of Larisa.

The revelation was made by Mr. George Patoulis, President of the Global Doctors’ Hippocratic Institute, President of the Medical Association of Athens, Attica Regional Governor and Mr. Aristotelis Pavlidis, President of the International Hippocratic Foundation of Kos, former Minister.

The event was also attended by Prof. Athanasios D. Giannoukas, President of the Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaly, Mr. Tsougkos Chrysovalantis – Ioannis, Deputy President of the Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaly, Mr. Stefanos Geroulanos, Professor of Surgery and former professor of History of Medicine, the director of the Cardiac Surgery department of Henry Dunant Hospital Sotirios Prapas, the mayor of Larissa Mr. Apostolos Kalogiannis, Mr. Rizos Haliapalis President of the Association “Hippocrates in Larissa”, Mr. Konstantinos Pantos Vice President of GDHI, Prof. Konstantinos  Kouskoukis  Vice President of GDHI and H. Prof. Antonios Polydorou Secretary General of GDHI.

This was followed by the planting of a plane tree in the garden of Biopolis at the medical school, a symbolic movement that brings Larissa and Kos closer, since according to the tradition, under a plane tree, Hippocrates taught his students in Kos.
